  • Guidance document for LiCEA

Based on the local surveys and the information exchange, the life-cycle concept will be integrated in a simplified energy audit scheme, providing a procedure for LiCEA formulated in the guidance document. The procedure is envisaged to define simple and efficient indicators necessary to a preliminary analysis of the production processes and SMEs situation. The guidance document is the crucial for project as a base for the creation of the LiCEA tools, their application and the project dissemination. The guidance document is a sort of white book on the smart and simplified energy audit including the LCA approach and it allows go beyond the classical energy audit expanding the system boundaries to the entire life-cycle of supply chains of SMEs.

  • Training Seminars

Specific training, on the base of the train-the-trainers model, on the utilization of LiCEA Tool will be organized for local Energy Agencies, energy managers and energy experts to show the correct use of the tool and its power. The main target is constituted by the Energy Agencies involved into the project. Additionally, other Energy Agencies will be involved. In fact the further exploitation of LiCEA by the local Energy Agencies will result in more energy saving opportunities (multiplier effect), and would not have been possible at the single company level without the support of envisaged project, guarantying the continuation of LiCEA beyond the duration of the project. Particular attention will be given to Energy Agencies: an European network of 450 subjects adequately specialized in energy efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources utilization, so to have the chance to have a widespread diffusion of LiCEA Tool and the innovative and smart model for providing energy auditing within the industrial sectors. All the materials will be provided and free of charge, on LiCEA website in Download Centrum. It is foreseen to have at least 20 participants per Seminar per Region.

  • Application of LiCEA Tool:

As a second step in the application of LiCEA Tool it is foreseen to carry out 25 energy audits in 5 different industrial districts (5 audits per Sector). The main data included in the LiCEA Tool are the kind of sector of the factory, the energy consumptions from bills and invoices, the power and the main characteristics of the main appliances and machineries, electric or thermal, involved in the single identified processes and their general working time. In a complex series of data, on the base of the industrial sector involved, it will be nourished and adjusted through LCA already existing software. The user friendliness will be ensured by real training sessions all over the European Countries involved and by a tool guided, an electronic manual that will give not only information about the software behavior and the data, but that will be also a compendium for energy managers or energy experts. Companies, as final beneficiaries, will be duly informed that the service provided free of charge is to be considered as a grant under the de minimis rule.

  • LiCEA Tool

The electronic instrument which allows the execution of a simplified industrial energy audit, LCA based, according to the LiCEA Guidance document, tested and optimized after the real check and first application in order to be ready for a large-scale use. LiCEA Tool is software for energy auditing in industry. The added value of LiCEA is to be a simplified Tool born to avoiding time consumption in the analysis of ineffective data and, in addition, to foresee the LCA analysis of the whole company. To be effective the software has to be specifically studied for a single industrial sector due to the presence of the LCA part: a massive quantity of data absolutely very specific for a single kind of industrial sector. That is the reason for which LiCEA will be realized in 6 tools, each of them might be used in a single industry (sector) only, even if in different countries.
Later on there will be the possibility to increase the number of sectors covered by LiCEA Tool and to increase the number of companies where to operate with LiCEA simplified energy auditing.

  • Network - relations generated by the LiCEA Tool

Tool application will generate a relation for each analyzed SME with indicators as: actual energy consumption along the production chain, emissions, cost, energy saving potential and solutions. The Reports made on the base of the relations are a core output because they are a concrete and important results for the SMEs analyzed and involved in the project to understand their energy situation and to plan the energy efficiency actions suggested. But also for local stakeholders (Chamber of Commerce, Entrepreneurs Associations, Banks and fund suppliers, Public Institutions, etc.). They are the base to verify the potential and the right running of the LiCEA tools in real cases and to develop and optimize it with a feedback action. They are also a useful example for stimulation other companies and district agencies to use the LiCEA tools.

  • Policy Round Tables

Each partner will motivate, support and help to public institution (associated partners) to update their energy plan considering the LiCEA tool utilization as an action to achieve the energy targets of the local energy plan. Each country partner group will organize a round table with local policy makers and cluster managers to show LiCEA tools and project results in relation with the local/regional energy plan and their possible implementation in the planning activities. The insertion of the LiCEA tools in the energy planning of the regions involved in the project will contribute to the spread of the LiCEA tool utilization and of the results of the project. The LiCEA operative practice will ensure more consistency to the public energy plan giving them effectiveness with a really concrete and benefit quantifiable action.
